The attacking duo on Spurs’ radar (Video)

Without Mousa Dembele, and following the loss of Rafael van der Vaart, it’s fair to say Tottenham Hotspur are lacking a natural number 10 to play ‘in the hole’ behind the front-man. Both Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson, summer arrivals from Fulham and Hoffenheim respectively, have failed to fill the void left by the goalscoring Dutchman, leading to speculation that head coach Andre Villas-Boas may move for another attacking player in January.

Step forward Shakhtar Donetsk’s Willian and Miralem Pjanic of AS Roma. Both have been linked with a winter switch to White Hart Lane in recent months and it’s no shock to see that both are believed to be genuine targets for Spurs.

Villas-Boas is believed to be a big fan of Brazilian Willian, having attempted to sign him during his time with Chelsea, and it’s been widely reported that the two have remained in close contact over recent months.

On top of that, Pjanic is believed to have already met with representatives of Spurs to discuss a possible move, with the midfielder a target for the club since the summer. Having appeared to have fallen out of favour with Roma, a move to North London could well be on the cards.

Either way, Spurs are in desperate need for another attacking player. The team lack the necessary cohesion and attacking verve that Dembele brought to the table, which both Sigurdsson and Dempsey are desperately lacking, regardless of their Premiership experience.

Bring in Pritchard, Carroll and Ceballos. No need to buy when the under 21 team has so much talent.
