The Golazo to end all Golazo’s (Video)

Golazo: Football/soccer expression referring to an awesomely amazing goal. This term is used by Spanish speakers all around the world.

A term that is often loosely associated and battered around far too often – see Oscar’s goal against Shakhtar Donetsk last week – every now and again a strike appears within the confides of Twitter that sees this writer pitching tents in his pants.

Roberto Soldado netted one against Atletico Madrid a couple of weeks ago, Taison scored a ‘Marco van Basten’ for Metalist last week in the Europa League, but both pale in comparison to the effort of Ayanda Patosi for Lokeren on Friday.

The South Africa netted a top corner volley during the recent encounter with St. Liege, after some excellent work from teammates. Needless to say, it was basically the ultimate Golazo. One that would see anyone would spit their coffee out over the laptop upon first, fifth or tenth viewing.

At a time when any old goal is being dubbed a Golazo, this is one that fully deserves the title. Regardless of the opposition or the standard of football, it is a goal that will forever remain in the memories of football fans.
