Zaha – Simply the best? (Video)

Much has been made of Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha in recent days following his call up to the England squad. Fans of the South London side have been championing for his inclusion in the national squad for some time now, while others believe it is pivotal he plays on Wednesday night in order to ward off interest from Ivory Coast.

The 20-year-old was born in Abidjan, the economic capital of the African nation, meaning he is eligible to turn out for the country. Nevertheless, despite the attempted intervention of striker Didier Drogba, Zaha looks set to win his first cap for England against Sweden on Wednesday.

It is a huge shot to prominence for the winger, who was recently dubbed the ‘best talent to emerge from Crystal Palace since Ian Wright’, according to BBC Sport pundit Mark Bright. There are those that feel his call up to the national squad has come too early, despite being three years older than Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling and possessing nearly two-and-a-half years of first-team experience.

Unsurprisingly, interest is believed to be high in the Palace man, with La Liga giants Real Madrid thought to be keeping tabs on the youngster. In terms of potential, in comparison to current ability, you would be hard pressed to find a better player in his position than Zaha, at present.

While playing for a Championship side may’ve seen him slip under the radar, to an extent, it won’t be long before fans are fully aware of the capabilities of the Palace star, who has played an influential role in firing them to the summit of England’s second tier.

Having been to many England matches - its no surprise to discover many of them can be boring rather than disapointing.
The more players with flair, belief and even a bit of cheek will at least make England more watchable if not world beaters.

Great Zaha should be one of many on Roys list.
