Will Torres score against the Reds? (Video)

Fernando Torres’ former employers visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday, where they will look to get one over their old hero and his new club.

Liverpool have started poorly by their standards and a big result in the capital could help them transform their season.  To achieve that, however, they will have to stop the man they once affectionately called ‘El Niño’.

Torres infamously only managed to score one goal for Chelsea after his move from Anfield in January 2011.  His first full season was better but still a little disappointing, as he only managed 11 goals in 49 appearances.  The current campaign has proved much more fruitful, as he has already racked up more than half the amount he scored in the whole of 2011/12.

Despite impressive performances last season, including a spectacular finish against Barcelona to send Chelsea through to the Champions League final, Torres has not done enough of what the Blues bought him for.  Until he scores more than 20 goals in a season, he will continue to be seen as unworthy of his £50 million price tag.

Torres still needs to prove himself to Chelsea.  A winning goal against the club who once adored him could put him on his way to doing just that.
