Redknapp is right to steer clear of Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers are a team that are, it’s fair to say, going through a turbulent time at present. After a decent enough start to the season, the Lancashire side are now five points adrift from league leaders Cardiff City after the opening 13 games.

Following the sacking of Steven Kean, who had been linked with the Ewood Park exit for some time, the club are currently without a full-time manager. A host of names of have linked with the vacant managerial spot; former stars Tim Sherwood and Alan Shearer along with Mick McCarthy and, spectacularly, Diego Maradona.

One man who, it appears, won’t be making the move to Rovers is out of work manager Harry Redknapp. The veteran boss has been unemployed since has sacking as Tottenham Hotspur manager back in June, and has been linked with a host of roles up and down the country.

Nevertheless, Redknapp is right to rule himself out of the running for the Rovers job. Granted, they are a team in need of a man of his experience to take them back to the Premiership, but with the constant uncertainty surrounding the future of the club; it is best for the former Spurs boss to steer well clear of any speculation linking him with the role.

On top of that, Redknapp is unlikely to leave his current home in Sandbanks; a trip that would take anything of five hours upwards. Furthermore, the veteran boss, as witnessed during his stints with Portsmouth and Southampton, likes to spend money on new players, something the Venky’s may be apprehensive about doing.

It appears as though Rovers will have to continue their long search for Steve Kean’s replacement, which the longer it drags; the worse it will be for the club.
