    Wenger must go?

Being the son of an Arsenal fan I have always heard rants about Arsene Wenger, be it praise or disapproval. Recently, however, it has just been the latter.

You could argue that Wenger must stay, because of all he has done for Arsenal and the huge change he has made at the club. However recently what changes has he made? Selling your best players and spending virtually none of the money is not what a title challenging side should be doing.

You could also argue that he has changed the youth system at the club and give it 3 or 4 years and Arsenal will be atop the league with an average age of 13. How often though have you heard that with Arsenal? For years and years I have heard that amazing players will come through and dominate the team but since then Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are the only key players to emerge from the youth setup.

You could argue that he has changed the image of Arsenal into a side that plays beautiful passing football. In fact you would be right, but at the end of the day it does not win matches. Barcelona do play a similar system and they are the best team on the planet but the reason it works so incredibly well is because players like Lionel Messi and David Villa will finish the majority of chances they are given. While an in form Van Persie can be prolific an injured one leaves the squad short in depth. Thankfully Nicklas Bendtner won’t be their main striker in this situation but Gervinho is yet to impress.

Now there are some things you can’t argue about. Replacing Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri with Yossi Benayoun and Mikel Arteta is something that should not be happening at a side trying to achieve. Both are great players but they are far from the world class duo Arsenal previously had. With Samir Nasri joining Manchester City, Arsenal are making the opposition stronger. The opposition that will surely for the second year make the champions league. If Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool also continue their early form then Arsenal will have to settle for Europa League. For a (supposedly) big club this would be tragic and severely affect their chances of attracting big name players.

In my eyes Arsene Wenger should go yes, but he might yet be saved. As a manager he needs to work with what he has got and unlock the serious potential of underachievers. Theo Walcott step up and save your manager.

Szczesny, Theo and Djourou were also key players last year; Frimpong looks like he will be a key player this year; Oxlade, Gibbs. Jenksinson, Miquel, Ryo and Coquelin might all have very important roles this season; Mannone looks like another quality keeper who may also play an important role; Lansbury looks good enough, and may return next season, along with Bartley, to challenge for places; Afobe could well get some chances this season and the next - these are all products of the youth policy who will or may have very important roles for the club over the next couple of seasons, and there are plenty more in the reserves who could easily make it to become important members of the 1st team - it's not just wilshere and ramsey.

Please don't talk about youth policy. That is utter rubbish and bull shit.

Making good players from youth and selling them with good profit is the youth policy in Arsenal. This is all for making good profit from a business oriented football club like Arsenal.

AW didn't do anything. Fab situation we can understand. Nasri situation we have to blame AW. AW can not grantee a trophy to his players, how one great player like Nasri can stay this kind of club not showing any ambition.

If AW can not do his job, he has to leave his job instead of cheating fans who love him a lot. i think If AW did his all signing in early, Nasri wold have stayed.

But we know these all signings are just panic signing.... All result from MANU game. Thanks to MANU.

Wenger should have gone a couple of seasons ago. He has done all he could but clearly his last few yeras have been a flawed genius at best. Actually it's just plain failure and no amount of nicety would mask it. There should be a new manager with new ideas. And oh, some decent players would be good too. Current crop is rather rubbish. Truth may hurt but you need to accept it.

All of those calling for Wenger's head are a disgrace and i'm not sure why you really do support the Arsenal.
Since we have had some success and been fighting in europe season after season and Arsene making us one of the top 10 clubs in the world,we have brought in a load of moaney whiney fans who want it all.

One minutes it's wenger dosent spend,he buys too many young players and then when he goes out and buy's older heads people moan that there to old and he's spent to much on has-beens???.

The press are trying to get rid of one of the best manager's this country's ever seen and stupid fool's who call themselfs supporter's buy into all the rubbish.Well done you clever people who have been owned by the likes of the sun and the mirror.Well done for making them think our support is crap and that we are going no where.

If half of those that a moaning supported the team,we would be a formindable force and would show the players the love we have always given our players weather good or bad.

I would like the author of this to go and concentrate on whatever team he supports and stop writing about things you don't understand. Having a moaning glory hunting son don't give you a rite either mate.

You use such simplistic argument it ant even funny.

Ever heard of Margins of success mate, one or two cups instead of finals and Wenger would be the greatest manager ever for building a team from the heart on very little money. But people don't ever look at the good, because bad sells. Otherwise eastenders would have stories of people winning the lottery or succeeding in whatever they try.

Get some perspective people, and to the Author, Sack your Son. He sounds like a rubbish gooner!

Lets be frank, person who want AW to go are not arsenals. No outsider should say anything about arsenal.

See it took just over a week and they are out again, People who claim to be Arsenal fans, I dont get them, dont understand them, and certainly would not want to be in the pub before a game with them.

One of the fundamental omissions I've noticed when anyone argues about Wenger going is the complete lack of any replacement name.

It's the same in politics. Get this lot out. Get in someone else ... anyone else ... who cares about policies. And almost always you end up with worse. In Wenger's case you'd categorically end up with worse.

Like it or not, Arsene Wenger is still one of the greatest club managers of all time. A Mourinho would have wrecked the club after a handful of years ... as would just about anyone else. Most managers only see success as a short term goal. They don't actually care about the club, and they certainly don't care about football. Wenger does.

The only reason there are complaints is due to lack of recent silverware. There are no prizes for being the best run club in world football. There are no prizes for playing some of the most attractive football. There are no prizes for improving players. There are no prizes for integrity. There are no prizes for being proud of your club.

Fans don't want to know about paying down debt or being sustainable. Not when they see ManU, ManC, Liverpool, and Chelsea spending money they don't have.

If all you care about is silverware then go and support a club that can provide it now. And if Wenger is right you'd better choose that club well because it may not be there in three years time. Arsenal FC will be here in the long term. That it can be guaranteed is almost exclusively due to our present manager.

The world is teetering on the brink of another recession. If it happens and interest rates rise, or if it doesn't and interest rates rise then club after club in the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga will crash into uncertainty. Spain and Italy have already looked over the precipice of a national default and if that happens then credit ratings get modified, interest rates rise and debts become unsustainable.

Barcelona FC lost 83 million euros last year and 21 million already this year. Their gross debt is 483 million ... no amount of silverware will save them if any of their creditor banks gets into difficulty and calls in a loan. And it's a similar situation across the board of most of the big clubs. ManC and Chelsea should be insulated, but only until FFP comes into play.

Now tell me, who would you rather have in charge at Arsenal until we have a sustained global recovery and the threat of default diminishes ... Arsene Wenger or AN Other?

A sh*t article, but some good comments, at least there are some vocies of reason out there, anyone with a brain knows what we have in Arsene, the man is a giant, and he doesn't deserve the crap he's had, most of it from our own so called fans, he is irreplaceable and i dread the day when we do have to try.

willybilly, to think it's acceptable to replace Cesc and Nasri with Arteta and Yossi, along with spending 15m on AOC and Park then choosing Chamach ahead of them, then you're a custard short of a trifle. The BOD and Silent Stan are sucking the club dry - 20m in player sales not spent and transfer kitty untouched. Wake up and stop craving mediocrity.
