Wenger set to break the bank for Manuel Neuer

The German goal keeper looked set to sign for Bayern Munich in the summer, but with talks between the two clubs stumbling, Arsene Wenger looks set to take full advantage.

The 25-year old was excellent for Schalke against United, which prompted Sir Alex Ferguson to reacquire the German’s availability, but Fergie appears to be looking to Spain to solve his goalkeeping problems, with talks for Atletico Madrid's David de Gea still ongoing.

But the Daily Mail suggests Arsene has made an enquiry for the German shot stopper, but must topple Bayern’s £7.8million a year offer, plus the £20million asking price,  which some Arsene critics may suggest this will be too much for the Frenchman to part with.

We don't need a new goalkeeper. Szczesny will be our no. 1 for many years to come.
