    Madrid vs Spurs Review

Real Madrid romped to a fairly comfortable 4-0 victory against Spurs last night which has surely ended the Londoners’ European campaign although they still have to play the second leg. A header by Adebayor provided the opener of the match with just over 4 minutes on the clock. It is an understatement to say that was not a start that Harry would have hoped for away at the Bernabeu.

A few minutes after the first goal Crouch got a booking for a challenge I feel he did not need to make and was shown a red card for another bookable offence moments later, which ended the tie as a contest, with Spurs now down to ten men.

In a match where Real Madrid was rarely troubled, Bale had a few forays down the left flank but he had no real impact on the game. The gulf in quality showed in the match dominated by Real Madrid and the lack of depth in the Spurs side was left evident.

In the second half Jermain Defoe came on for Rafael Van der Vaart and looked promising, but it was Real Madrid’s night as Adebayor got his brace and Madrid’s second with another header. Were it not for a good save from Gomes the Togolese striker could have got a third. Di Maria and Ronaldo got Madrid’s the third and fourth goals respectively to finish a terrible night for Spurs.
