Arsenal misses out to United on French youngster

Manchester United has beaten Arsenal yet again, but this time it’s for the signature of Lens starlet Raphael Varane.

The 6ft 3in monster can play either centre back or central midfield and only turned 18 yesterday. The French U21 star only made his senior debut recently but has been on excellent form in the youth team.

The Mirror reports that French insiders suggest the deal is “nearly done” and Fergie sees the 18-year old as perfect backup to a defence that is surely set for a major clear out in the summer. With veteran defender Wesley Brown being linked with a move away from the club, along with his teammate Jonny Evans.
