    Liverpool vs Manchester City

    Monday 11th April, 8pm

    Anfield

The Monday night match and the one outstanding fixture of this weekend's Premier League schedule is at Anfield between 6th placed Liverpool and 4th placed Manchester City.

Liverpool are desperate to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat at the West Brom last weekend and will be looking to produce a good display for their fans against a strong Man City side. City themselves, will be looking for the win as both Chelsea and Tottenham won over the weekend to put their top four finish still hanging in the balance.

City are on a real high after thumping Sunderland 5-0 at Eastlands last weekend and will be looking to complete the double over Liverpool, who they beat comprehensively 3-0 earlier in the season.

Liverpool still have hopes of finishing 5th and securing a place in Europe for next season, but have now fallen 8 points behind Tottenham and must win at Anfield tomorrow night to have any chance of securing it. The Reds' fans are yet to see strike pair Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll form a strong partnership as yet and will be hoping that this is the game that they will shine together.

Liverpool will have to do without captain Steven Gerrard for this match and the remainder of the season after he received a recurrence of his groin problem in training last week. Liverpool will also be without Daniel Agger, who is also ruled out for the rest of the season, and Glen Johnson, who is out for a month with a hamstring injury. So this leaves he Reds desperately short at the back.

City themselves have injury problems, especially at the back with Micah Richards and Jerome Boateng injured and Kolo Toure still serving a suspension for failing a drugs test. However, Carlos Tevez will be brimming after being shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award this week and he will be looking to continue his great form of this season and fire City to a win at Anfield which will lift them back into third and keep them firmly on course for a Champions League place.
