Will Dalglish still be smiling in May? The players can decide

A look at the Premiership table shows Liverpool now in seventh place with 23 points after 14 games and are now having to play catch up from a five point deficit on fourth placed Chelsea. The result at Fulham was a very big loss for the reds and one they couldn't afford.

At this point, already in the season, Liverpool are going to have to hope that the teams above them slip-up and give them a way into the holy grail that is European football. For me, this is clearly a situation the Reds cannot afford to be in. They have to be in control of their own destinies as far as they can be, and living in hope is not being in control.

The last thing I or any Liverpool fan wants is for Kenny Dalglish to be under pressure for not achieving Champions League football next season. John W. Henry has made his ambitons clear and I nor the rest of the Liverpool faithful know the man well enough to know how patient the man will or won't be if his ambitions aren't met.

Dalglish is famed for his beaming smile, and for the life of me I don't want him or the club to lose that come the end of the season. Ultimately, I think it's up to the players to raise their game against teams like Fulham, Norwich and Swansea, teams they've not performed against as expected.

I'm not sure if many Reds fans will agree with me here, but I'm tired of hearing the players "bigging" each other up in the papers saying how great each other is etc. Talk is cheap. The supporters need to see this against ALL opposition, not just when the "Big boys" come to town.

Right now, it's touch and go as to whether Dalglish will reach the target set by John W. Henry. I'm optimistic, but at the same time I'm realistic and the performances need to improve. We can all bemoan Jay Spearing's red card and the penalty claims not given, hitting the bpost etc, but that's football, and those things don't win games. The players have to start bossing these smaller teams and finishing their chances if their talk is ever going to be backed up.

    Excuses only go so far.

I agree 100%. KD should put a gag order on these players and get them to get on with their jobs. LFC is paying big time salaries to them to work. SHOOT with your FEET and not with your MOUTHS. Let the PR do the talking with the press.
It has been very frustrating for us fans all over the world. YNWA

John Henry stated at the beginning of this season that his expectation for his investment is a Champions League place.
Kenny Dalglish KNEW that before he started buying players and alienating others.
As a life long Liverpool supporter, and a former season ticket holder I cannot see how with these AVERAGE BRITISH PLAYERS that we will be be in the CL places come May.
Kenny needs to move on and should not have taken the role after the caretaker appointment.
His purchases have been poor for the amount of money he has spent with the the most glaring one being Carroll.
I think that KD will be stubborn and persist with Carroll and this will cost him his job.
Make no mistake John Henry will have no problem in sacking Kenny if we don't get the CL place.
No amount of Fan Power will change his mind considering it was John Henry who save the club from bankruptcy.
