AVB looks to turn his Lamp off

He wasn’t a very happy bunny on Saturday.

And if reports are to be believed today, Frank Lampard could be on his way out of Chelsea.

The England international was subbed during his side’s 3-0 win away at Newcastle yesterday.

And he didn’t look in the best of moods as he trudged off before taking his place alongside serial substitute Fernando Torres on the Blues’ bench.

I assume just because the 33 year-old was replaced this one time he hasn’t handed in a transfer request like team-mates Alex and Nicolas Anelka, because that would have been a major overreaction.

But rumours state that manager Andre Villas-Boas could use the midfielder as bait in order to help bring Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric to Stamford Bridge.

The former Porto boss would offer a lot of cash plus Lampard for the Croatian, and with Spurs chief Harry Redknapp being related to the ex-West Ham man, there could be a temptation to accept the proposal.

It’s well documented that Villas-Boas is looking to overhaul his aging squad. Anelka and Alex are already departing, whilst the long-term future of players such as Didier Drogba and Lampard himself seem uncertain.

Coupled in with the emergence of young-guns Daniel Sturridge, David Luiz, Oriol Romeu, Josh McEachran and Romelu Lukaku, perhaps now would be the right time to let Lampard go.

Plus, if he moved to White Hart Lane to play under Uncle Harry, he wouldn’t be getting subbed very often.

After all, blood is thicker than water.

Can't Lampard be given some other job within the club. Like Patrick Vierra was given a job at ManC. Lamps has been trying to do his best and looks like he is still a good asset at Chelsea. Think about that.Or he could not be a regular player, like Giggs! Something can be done.

Frank Lampard is a legend and too many moronic articles like this are way below the belt and don't show the guy enough respect. Lamps still has 2 or 3 seasons at the very top left in his tank and is STILL the best goalscoring midfield player in the Premiership bar none! Just look at the states. No he shouldn't play every game like he used to but when he is in form then play him as he has so much to offer. Forget the Spurs nonsense, for one they couldn't afford his wages and two, Uncle Harry won't be there beyond next season when he replaces Capello and Frank KNOWS that!
