Out of form Bolton Trot to White Hart Lane

Relegation candidates Bolton Wanderers travel to in-form Tottenham in a game that should see Spurs extend their unbeaten run to 11.

The North London giants haven’t registered a league loss since the 5-1 thumping by Manchester City back in August.

It is a stark contrast to the travelling Bolton side who have lost four of their last six games and have only won three games all season.

However two of those wins have come away from home, the last coming all the way back in October at Wigan Athletic.

Harry Redknapp made nine changes from the side that defeated West Bromwich Albion last weekend for the 2-1 loss to PAOK and the Spurs manager is expected to ring the changes once more for the return to Premier League duties.

Rafael Van der Vaart faces a late fitness test on his hamstring problem that ruled him out of the 3-1 win at the Hawthorns and is expected to return to the starting XI should he pass.

Jermain Defoe, who played the full 90 minutes against both West Brom and PAOK, would be the one to drop to the bench should the Dutchman recover in time.

However, Michael Dawson (Achilles), Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Niko Kranjcar (thigh) all remain sidelined.

    Potential starting XI:

Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Modric, Parker, Bale; Van der Vaart, Adebayor

    Key battles

If there were more time in August, Gary Cahill could have perhaps been turning out for Spurs in this fixture but, unfortunately for the England international, that wasn’t to be the case. Still turning out for a Trotters side that currently boasts the worst defensive record of the season, he will have his hands full against an in-form Emmanuel Adebayor on Saturday.

Younes Kaboul has won the most aerial duels of any Premier League defender this season and will have to keep up his superb performances against Kevin Davies while Scott Parker and Fabrice Muamba will surely lock horns at White Hart Lane on the afternoon.
