3 Players United Will Have To Be Wary Of - Wigan Athletic

Manchester United face Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day at Old Trafford. So with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game:

Ali Al-Habsi

On a few Bolton Wanderers fans forums last season Al-Absi was voted their keeper of the season due to his impressive performances despite the fact he spent the whole season on loan at Wigan where his saves in goal helped keep the Latics up.

After only 18 appearances in five seasons at Bolton as understudy to Jussi Jaaskelainen, the Omani stopper deserved a chance to play elsewhere and grabbed his chance well at the DW Stadium despite being involved in a struggling side.

Roberto Martinez is going to have to hope for a wonder performance from Al-Habsi who is perhaps destined to move onto a bigger club at the end of the season, if his side are going to stand any chance of grabbing a point against United at Old Trafford.

Victor Moses

In terms of natural-talent Wigan fans would argue that in Moses they have one of the best left-footed young forwards in the Premier League. There’s no doubt that the youngster who joined from Crystal Palace in January 2010 has genuine talent.

The problem that Moses has is that many pundits feel that despite getting games at Wigan under Martinez, he should have moved to a bigger club as perhaps he hasn’t developed to a level that he would have been expected to, despite only being 21 years of age.

On his day he can hurt the best teams in the league. The problem is that he has to receive the ball down the flanks and in the danger zones to hurt teams and sadly he is not being able to do that at Wigan, though of course that’s not his fault is it?

Hugo Rodallega

It would be fair to say that when Columbian forward Rodallega signed for Wigan in January two years ago that very few football fans across Europe had heard of the skilful forward who made his name in the Mexican top-flight with Necaxa.

Steve Bruce though had scouted the forward well and towards the back-end of the 2008/09 season, Rodallega made his mark scoring three goals in the last four games of the season including a goal against Untied at the DW Stadium.

Like all South American forwards, Rodallega does have abit of a temper to him and is known for the odd rash challenge or two. He was one of two Wigan players sent off at Old Trafford last season and Martinez can ill-afford for his striker to repeat that feat this weekend.
