    Support for ex-Liverpool forward

Messages on Twitter reveal that ex-Liverpool favorite Stan Collymore has been suffering from a bout of depression over the last week.

The former reds front man has suffered periodically over the years from the illness and is currently in the midst of another attack.

I would just like to offer words of encouragement and support to Stan who was a good servant for Liverpool FC and who will remain, for sure one of my favorites to have worn the red shirt. Especially after THAT winner against Newcastle in the 4-3 thriller back in 1996. I have followed Stan’s career ever since he signed for my hometown club of Crystal Palace under Steve Coppell in 1990.

As someone who has grown up with family members that have and still do suffer from depression, I know what Stan is going through at this moment, and I’d like to take this opportunity to offer him the best of luck and wishes for a quick recovery.

Stan, keep your chin up mate. The thoughts and goodwill of myself, The Kop Times and many, many more are with you. All the very best.
