    Noisy neighbours?

The blue half of Manchester will be thanking the red half of Merseyside this week after Liverpool’s draw with Manchester United allowed City to push clear of the reds and finally stand alone at the top of the table.

Whilst City continued their fine run of form by hammering Aston Villa, Fergie’s team struggled in the encounter that he claims is the biggest match in world football.

According to Sir Alex, Manchester United have now played all of the top Premier League teams this season. Let’s hope the United gaffer has checked the Premier League table before this weekend’s clash at Old Trafford, as it would be a shame if he underestimated the team that is currently number one in the country.

With the first Champions League group game victory under their belt at the third time of trying, City are the team that are cruising into this fixture firing on all cylinders, and it must seem to the Blue Moon faithful that this is their time to go to Old Trafford and finally prove to all doubters that it is their year.

The clash that is widely acknowledged to have put Manchester City out of the title-race last season was the one that Manchester United won thanks to that goal, by Wayne Rooney.

The team that ran United close last season has added considerable talent to the ranks since then, and whether he admits it or not, Sir Alex must know that the blue half of Manchester is ready to push his team to the brink.

Time for City to make Ferguson eat his words.
