Blue half of Manchester cheering for Dalglish’s men

For the club and its fans the biggest fixture to be played this weekend doesn’t involve Mancini’s men. On Saturday at 12:45pm Roberto Mancini along with many of  City’s faithful will take a keen interest on proceedings at Anfield and for a brief spell on Saturday the blue half of Manchester will be supporting Dalglish’s men.

The game at Anfield doesn’t just have an impact on the season but also on City’s chances of pulling away from the rest of the chasing pack.

If the form books have anything to go by it could just lead to the result City are looking for and Liverpool may take the three points away from their oldest and most bitterest rivals.

However I do feel that if Liverpool do beat United on Saturday I don’t feel they have a squad with enough strength in depth to compete with City week in week out for the whole season.

Of late Liverpool have been scraping victories and aren’t quite playing to a high enough standard to challenge the two Manchester teams. City as well as United have been ruthless when winning games. They don’t just win a game they convincingly win a game, in City’s case examples such as 0-4 away win at Blackburn and a 1-5 away win against Spurs demonstrate City’s intentions to push for a league title.

However if United take all three points it just may send the message out that it could quite possibly be a two horse race for the title this season. This will lead to an absolute mouth watering derby next week on 23rd October at Old Trafford.

Being a Liverpool fan myself, Saturday can’t come sooner enough. If the Reds can take three points away from United not only will I be happy to beat our rivals again but I will also be delighted to see City at the top of the table instead of United for a change.

I would just like to give a final comment from the Spain v Scotland game in the week. I thought that with Spain fielding a slightly weaker team than, for example the team that played in the World Cup final, Scotland may have had a chance to fluke a result.

However one man stood above all the other 21 players on the field, City’s own David Silva. I honestly thought he played like a ‘Spanish Messi’ in the week.

He scored twice and set the third up. He demonstrated on the international stage what he has been doing week in week out for City. For me he has been one of the best players so far this season and I feel he is one of the worlds best at keeping the ball under close control.

With Silva in form and pulling the strings in and around the strikers and wingers City could achieve their main goal this season and take the title back to the Etihad Stadium.
