Wenger reveals Arsenal's chase for Premier League starlet

Arsene Wenger revealed yesterday that Arsenal had been interested in Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard before the young Belgian made the move to Stamford Bridge this summer. According to the Telegraph, Wenger had tracked Hazard for over two years only for the "big budgets", as Wenger defined them, of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City to enter the chase and end Arsenal's pursuit of Hazard.

Two years Arsene? You'd watched Hazard play for two years and still not made your move? Hazard surely did not become a superstar in the final months of last season.

Perhaps on the day Arsenal released another set of impressive profit figures, the time has come once again for that old chant we often hear from Gooners in times of trouble:

    "Spend some f*****g money!"
