England v Sweden: Huge game for certain players on Merseyside

The England squad was announced today ahead of next week’s friendly in Sweden, with most of the talk being about a recall to Jack Wilshere after not playing for his national side since June 2011. However, it is also of huge importance to two players in particular for vastly different reasons.

Is 'pretty' football going to become the only way to play?

Liverpool fans will hope that Brendan Rodgers appointment will provide both style, and substance, over the coming years, but is this ‘Swanselona’ (urgh) type football being hyped up so much, that results don’t matter as much anymore?

    Every team has divers

I hate to admit it, but Brendan Rodgers is right.

He claimed last week that every club has a culture of diving and that they should get their own house in order before pointing the finger at his much maligned striker Luis Suarez.

    Video games imitating life

I have been slow in keeping up with all the recent technological advances we have had in the past couple of years but I thought it was time to join the real world and buy myself a PS3 and Fifa 13 with it recently. Suarez is good, but could be better

Ah Luis Suarez. One minute you’re a striking sensation, the next you couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo. You’re such an enigmatic front-man; it’s hard to classify you as good, great or world class.

    Who's a sorry scouser?

Steven Gerrard’s decision to stay loyal to Liverpool has defined his career. A commendable act and particularly noble in today’s game, but chances are he’s feeling ambivalent at best about the choice these days.

    Babbs of steel (Video)

Phil Babb was a pretty decent defender and made a decent career for himself. He played at Liverpool for six seasons making over a 100 appearances for the club. He also played at international level, too, representing the Repuclic of Ireland 35 times during his career.

    When transfers go bad

At the beginning of the season I had the idea to write to write this blog with Robin van Persie included on the list. Unfortunately, the Dutch Skunk has played exceedingly well for Manchester United and therefore is not a bust as he is justifying the £24 million fee that was paid for him. Regardless, let's take a look at some of the most famous transfer flops in the Premier League era.

    Can Shelvey replace Gerrard? (Video)

Steven Gerrrard isn’t going to be around forever.  Despite still being an incredible player, at 32 years of age, the Liverpool skipper is well past his prime.  And, with the Reds having needed him to pull them out of the mud so many times over the years, who is going to be there to save them when he’s gone?
